Photographing butterflies is definitely a challenge! Just when you're about to get the perfect shot… they fly away! But when you do obtain that perfect shot, there's great satisfaction! Here are some things to keep in mind the next time you're hunting butterflies, camera in hand!
1. Not too close
Larger species are often easier to photograph because you won’t have to get as close to achieve your shot. Insects are very sensitive to movement, so move slowly, avoiding any sudden and noisy movements. Also, use manual focus - it’s quieter and you will avoid wasting time if the autofocus gets into trouble.
