It’s a worrying time for many of us right now with lots of uncertainty and social media overflowing with negative news, but there's one thing we know for sure – we must try and stay positive, distract ourselves and remember that there is still so much beauty around us.
At this unprecedented time it is our responsibility not just to take care of our own personal wellbeing but also to take care of the mind-set of the people around us. Many people need some inspiration and positivity right now!
With that in mind, here at the Excio Photo Community, we decided to try our best to bring more #PhotographyForGood into the lives of everyone who loves and appreciates photography. We are excited to announce the launch of our free WhatsApp channel where we will post a “Photo of the Day” selected from the collections of our Excio members (all copyrights protected, of course). We feel that this is a great way for us to spread the good and the positive more widely and encourage you to share the WhatsApp channel with your loved ones wherever they are in the world.
If you and those around you want to see more photos from our members then you can also download the free Excio app on your Android or iPhone too. It is ideal if you love photography as you not only get to browse through the interesting and quite often exclusive works, but also learn something new along the way as our photographers always try to include either the story behind the shot or some interesting facts.
The Whatsapp channel will provide only one way communication which means all participants of the Excio WhatsApp group will be able to receive new images on a daily basis, but won’t be able to make any comments via messaging as is normally the case with Whatsapp. This has been done intentionally so as not to overwhelm the group with constant notifications whilst also protecting our members and their copyrights. You can still contact us via the contact admin feature at the bottom of the group.
If you aren't already uploading your images on Excio and would like to get your work published and potentially featured you can join for free here.
How to join Excio WhatsApp channel:
Add Excio to your contacts on WhatsApp: +64 25 225 96
Use this link to join the group: excio.io/whatsapp
Note: When you first join, depending on the time of day, you may not see the first photo published in the group. Just keep an eye out and later in the day, or the next morning you will start receiving the daily message from us.
Below are some instructions on how you can share the photo from the group with your other contacts [adopted from guidingtech.com]:
Forwarding is the easiest way to share received messages or media with other people. In case of media such as photos, documents or videos, you don’t have to download and upload them again making it faster for you and without using an excess of data. However, the simple Forward option does not send the caption along with the media but there is a neat workaround that lets you share photos with the original caption with others.
Here’s what you need to do.
Step 1. Open the WhatsApp chat on your phone that has the picture that you want to forward with the original caption. ‘Long touch’ the photo and hit the ‘Share’button on the top bar to open the share screen directly.
Step 2. ‘Tap Share’ from the menu. Then, from the Sharing options, select ‘WhatsApp’.
Step 3. On the next screen, you will see that the caption has been copied automatically. Select the contacts you want to share it with and hit the send icon. Done!
