"In She Comes" by Jesse Hebberd
What makes this photo so stunning is the complementary colours and contrast between calm and chaos. Let me explain in more detail...
On the bottom part of the image we see fast and dynamic waves breaking on the rocks which makes the picture seem chaotic but on the top half there’s a peaceful island covered in sunlight, which makes it seem soothing.
The colours in this photo are amazing but what makes them even better is that they’re complementary. The blue of the ocean is leaning a bit towards cyan which really works wonders with the orange and yellow of the island.
Complementary colours are any two colours that are on opposite sides of the colour wheel. This combination provides a high contrast and high impact color combination – together, these colors will appear brighter and more prominent. [Canva] See our example below.

Even though the photo isn’t perfectly symmetrical, it does have some symmetry to it which makes it pleasing to the eye.
This is a minor point (call it nit picking!) but this photo could have been improved if the camera was moved a bit to the left and tilted more to the right so that the rock was centered.
All in all, a fantastic shot with a tiny bit of room for improvement with the composition!
