My name is Giulio D'Ercole and I am a professional photographer, from Italy, with a quite vast international experience. My background was in Television, having been a producer for news and entertaining programs in Italy and in the USA.
Then, when I moved to Kenya in 2003, I switched to Media and Communication, Documentary film making and, finally, to photography. In fact, I basically truly learned the Art of Photography traveling throughout Africa, a continent that offers zillions of visually compelling opportunities to those that want to start writing with light to tell meaningful stories.
Africa did not only teach me what to see but also how to see. after six years in New York, Kenya, Somalia, Rwanda, Ethiopia, South Sudan, Malawi, and many other sub-Saharan countries were powerful eye-openers.
Working for the United Nations and International NGOs, to document their humanitarian projects, gave me the rare opportunity to travel in remote areas where only a few non-local can go.
There, I discovered humanity.
